As 2017 quickly comes to a close, I've been reviewing my goals for 2017 and many of the goals I set were for my volunteer work with families suffering the loss of an infant. In working with families during and after their loss, I've been able to identify specific needs that our community and local hospitals have and search for ways to fill those needs in order to help families heal. Stillbirth effects 1 in every 160 expectant families. 1 in 160. Those numbers are staggering.

What is International Bereaved Mother's Day? "A day for any parent who has lost a child, and in particular, holding space for mothers who are grieving their children on this day." Oh how my heart wishes that there were never a need for this day. How I wish that every baby could be born happy and healthy, into the arms of love. As many of you know, I became a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep many years before I became a maternity and birth photographer. N
A Doula? A Doulatog? | Bowling Green, KY Maternity and Birth Photographer
Yeah ... A doula! As many of you may know, I am a photographer, more specifically, a birth photographer. What you may not be aware of is I am also a volunteer. I have been associated with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep since 2011. NILMDTS (for short) is a volunteer organization that offers remembrance photography, free of charge, for families suffering the loss of an infant. More recently, I became an Area Coordinator for the Kentucky area and assist with some parts of Tennessee.
